A villain revealed on this week’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

There’s an enemy within that will hit close to the heart of a member of Coulson’s team.

It’s all part of a big episode that also saw Mockingbird back in the field and an actor from The Avengers movie make what could be the start of a major new story thread.

Before we continue this week’s big surprise and what it means for this season’s story here’s a SPOILER ALERT!

If you have not watched this week’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. stop reading now.

Seriously.

Here it comes.

May’s ex, Dr. Andrew Garner (Blair Underwood) is actually….

LASH!

Yes, the good Doctor survived the Hydra attack. May and Bobbi tracked down Werner von Strucker who revealed what happened during the attack on Garner. In a flashback we see Garner’s transformation into the monstrous Inhuman (played by Matthew Willig) who is stalking and killing new Inhumans.

All three of his season’s villains (Grant Ward, Rosalind Price and now Lash) have intimate connections with our heroes making this season’s emotional stakes much higher.

We also learned Price’s team is capturing new Inhumans just after emerging from their cocoons and putting them in medically induced comas to protect themselves and others.

Veteran actor Powers Boothe joined the series this week as Gideon Malick. The mystery man contacted Ward with an offer of “redemption.”  Malick was last seen as member of the World Security Council in Marvel’s The Avengers. Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes defied the Council and Malick was seen among the group in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Where has Malick been, why is he wanting to team up with Ward and the new Hydra and what does it mean for the future of the series?

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Tuesdays at 9pm on ABC.
