The Builders (ancient aliens) are destroying entire worlds. The Avengers are in deep space fighting with alien races (Skrull, Kree, Shi’ar, Brood) they once fought against.

While Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are off-world, Thanos and his Black Order invade Earth.

In Avengers #18 last week – the first united fight against The Builders ended with a shocking twist.

Here’s a preview of this week’s Infinity tie-ins:

Captain Marvel #15 by Kelly Sue DeConnick and Joe Quinones. Carol and fellow Avengers are captured by enemy alien forces after the disastrous plan to stop The Builders. And the return of Binary? How does Carol’s tragic former identity play into this Infinity tie-in. (Back when Rogue stole Carol’s Ms. Marvel powers, Carol became a flaming alien force – see above – and space-faring adventures with the X-Men fighting the Brood.)

Also this week in Infinity:

New Avengers #9 by Jonathan Hickman and Mike Deodato. Earth is invaded. Iron Man and the Illuminati are the front line against the deadly new forces of Thanos. What secrets has the Mad God stolen from Black Bolt that could destroy the Inhumans? (See Infinity #1.)

“[Thanos is] searching for something on Earth and is now dispatching the Black Order to locate what he’s interested in,” says Editor Tom Brevoort, “As we see in these pages, [the Illuminati] were the last people to have the Infinity stones, so that is clearly of interest to Thanos, whether or not it’s what he’s ultimately after.”

Ever since the Black Order was teased – fans have wondered about the powers and abilities of these new agents of Thanos. This will be the first time we’ll see the ruthless enforcers of Thanos in action against some of Marvel’s biggest heroes.

“They’re bad dudes,” says Brevoort. “They’ll have a little more room to show their stuff [in New Avengers #9] than they have up to this point in INFINITY. You’ll start to get more of a sense of their individual personalities, their powers and abilities, and that any of them are able to stand toe-to-toe with the members of the [Illuminati] without much difficulty.”

Captain Marvel #15 and New Avengers #18 arrive Wednesday.
