Here’s a first look at Dustin Weaver’s art for Infinity #2 from Marvel. Writer Jonathan Hickman is joined by Jim Cheung, Weaver and Avengers World artist Jerome Opena on the epic clash between Earth’s Mightiest Heroes vs. Thanos and the mysterious Builders.
I’m a huge fan of Hickman and Weaver’s SHIELD series so it’s a thrill to see them work together again. The Hickman/Weaver SHIELD series is not about Nick Fury and super spies but rather Leonardo Da Vinci, Galileo, Howard Stark and other super brains in a history twisting epic. Weaver drew the cover to the famous wedding of Northstar and Kyle Jinadu on Astonishing X-Men #51.
We’ve seen Jim Cheung (Young Avengers, Avengers: Children’s Crusade) create truly menacing new villains working for Thanos in Infinity #1 now we’ll see Weaver’s take on alien races like the Inhumans and the Black Order and more cosmic action with the Avengers in space.
Infinity #2 arrives in September.
As for SHIELD, Volume 2? Weaver tells Marvel.com issue 5 is drawn. No official word on when or if that series will continue.
