Victor Von Doom is the new Iron Man?
Wait, you thought Riri Williams was?
Riri (code-name Ironheart) headlines Invincible Iron Man.
Victor Von Doom stars in Infamous Iron Man unleashing a massive amount of questions about the fate of Marvel’s biggest heroes and villain.
Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev plot a new course for famous bad guy and unloads shock and awe with new twists and turns as big mysteries going back into Marvel history.
In the aftermath of Secret Wars, Doom appeared to Tony Stark but he was very different. No scars. No armor. No cape. Just a seemingly nice guy in a suit who wanted to help Tony on a mystical quest.
Now that Stark is MIA (We still don’t know the fate of Iron Man as we wait for three more chapters of Civil War II) Von Doom must go on.
A flashback. A comeback. A big new mystical conspiracy.
Bendis packs a lot in Infamous Iron Man #1 and leaves us with a ton of burning questions that could affect the Marvel Now.
Before we break down the big teasers and what they could mean here’s a SPOILER ALERT!
If you have not read Infamous Iron Man #1 yet stop reading now and rush to your comic book shop.
Seriously.
OK.
Here it comes.
Flashback! Bendis and Maleev takes us back to a moment from the Dark Reign era. The Cabal was a one-shot where Doctor Doom was among the villains united by Norman Osborn who has assumed control of SHIELD and The Avengers following his “heroic” actions in Secret Wars.
Parker Robbins aka The Hood dares to ask Von Doom the questions we’ve all wanted to know. Why would a super powerful, super rich monarch of his own country want to ally with these lesser villains? Did he really fight and beat a demon to save his mother’s soul? It’s easy to think of Doctor Doom as a mad scientific genius but never forget his mastery of science and sorcery.
What’s the significance of this flashback?
Is Tony Stark dead?
When Von Doom confronts Tony’s scientist/love interest she says, “I notice that sometimes you have a way of coming back to life or faking your own…” Doom, “It was televised. It is true. I can’t speak to anything else.”
The public knows of the conflict in Civil War II. Will the final showdown between Iron Man and Captain Marvel’s forces be seen live by all? Will the Armored Avenger die on camera or is it a fake-out by Stark? What’s Tony’s endgame?
Ben Grimm, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Guardian no more?
In the Secret Wars aftermath: Reed, Susan and the kids were into the unknown, Johnny was with the Inhumans and Ben Grimm had a new thing: pilot for the Guardians of the Galaxy.
In the final pages of this issue, Von Doom is confronted by Ben Grimm, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Is Thing leaving the Guardians for a new job back on Earth? Marvel teased Grounded, a new story with the Guardians are on Earth and it’s the final arc by Bendis.
And finally…
Mother of Doom?!
Is Doom’s Mommy Dearest alive and the deadliest new threat to the Marvel Universe?
