Iceman gets his own comic book as part of the X-Men ResurrXion revamp in 2017.

Marvel revealed the creative team via Nerdist for Bobby Drake’s first solo ongoing series.

Writer Sina Grace and artist Alessandro Vitti and cover artist Kevin Wada will craft the new adventures of adult Iceman in the upcoming series.

Bobby’s younger self (along with the original Xavier students) was brought into the present. Young Bobby came out of the closet during the Brian Michael Bendis X-Men run. Older Drake took a little while longer to leave a lifetime in the closet for a new beginning.

Bobby shared a dangerous relationship with Mystique and has dated Lorna Dane/Polaris, Opal Tanaka (during his X-Factor run) and Kitty Pryde but after a one-on-one with his younger open self, Drake finally came out.

“I think the tension of this is what makes this the most interesting and fun project to work on. Because it means that he’s been keeping something not only from his friends and colleagues, but also from himself. And if you even just look at his powers, it’s always just sort of been there, for the entire history of the Marvel universe. And leaning into it makes working on the character and understanding all the decisions he’s made to date that much more fascinating. And what he does with that information moving forward is going to inform not only his personal life, but also how he sees himself as a hero.” Grace told the Nerdist.

Iceman is an “omega level” mutant who still has reached the full potential of his abilities but he’s flexing his power in new ways. Did you see his Iceman army in the early pages of Extraordinary X-Men?

The ResurrXion lineup of X-books also includes X-Men: Gold, X-Men: Blue, Cable, Jean Grey, Weapon X and Generation X all coming in Spring 2017.
