In the comic books X-Men have fought against and with the Avengers. Wolverine joined the Avengers and fights with both teams.

Will there ever be an X-Men and Avengers movie? Hugh Jackman is hoping so and even has picked the Avenger he wants Wolverine to take on in a possible film!

“You know, obviously we have people from—one of the great things about this movie is that a lot of people from Marvel are here and it seems a lot more inclusive than it has been in the past. I don’t know what’s happening behind the scenes, but I think it’s fantastic,” Jackman tells Screen Rant, “I actually just asked the other day, I said, ‘I don’t know what the legal situation is, but why don’t these companies come together? Why isn’t it possible?’ Because personally, I would love to mix it up with Robert Downey Jr. and Iron Man and kick his ass. It’d be great. (laughs) There you go. There’s your quote. (Laughs)”

Marvel/Disney controls film rights to the Avengers. Fox controls film rights to the X-Men. The character in question right now is Quicksilver. Joss Whedon stated he would use the speedster and his sister, Scarlet Witch, in Avengers 2. Then Bryan Singer revealed he’d cast Evan Peters as a young Quicksilver in X-Men Days of Future Past. Pietro and Wanda (their real names) are the children of Magneto who were created in the pages of the X-Men but went on to become fan-favorite members of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Could Disney and Fox see the potential of an Avengers/X-Men crossover film or series? The test of how they can share characters rests with Quicksilver – the temperamental speedster and Scarlet Witch – mistress of chaos magic!

Hugh Jackman returns as Logan in The Wolverine in July and is filming X-Men Days of Future Past now.
