Wolverine joined Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in New Avengers by Brian Michael  Bendis.

Hugh Jackman thinks it’s possible the X-Man could join the Avengers on the big screen.

Fox controls the X-Men and Fantastic Four film rights. After Sony and Disney reached an agreement allowing Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, could Logan and mutants co-star in film with the Avengers?

During an interview to promote his role in Chappie, Yahoo Movies asked the question on every Marvel fan’s mind:

“You know, I think as an optimist I would love it. That’s the best thing about comic books; you can just pitch these characters into each other.

“I’m surprised by what’s happened with Spider-Man joining. You’re in a very complex world where big, big sums of money are being spent for different franchises and so getting them together is difficult.

“Two years ago I’d have said you’d be a real optimist to think it’d ever happen, but weirdly now I just think it maybe could. I think there is the possibility that it will happen.”

When asked which Avenger he’d like to see in a Wolverine film, he said Iron Man but only if Robert Downey Jr is still playing Tony Stark.

Imagine Wolverine on a mission with Captain America and Black Widow?

We hope Fox and Marvel could reach an agreement just to bring the story from Uncanny X-Men #268 to the big screen. See the cover to this classic by Chris Claremont and Jim Lee set in the present and World War II when Steve Rogers first met Logan.

Chappie opens Friday.

Wolverine returns in X-Men: Apocalypse in May 2016 and a possible third solo film in 2017.
