X-Men: Days of Future Past may not be Hugh Jackman’s final appearance as Wolverine! The star and director James Mangold are in negotiations for a sequel to The Wolverine according to Deadline.
Mangold is working on a script and Lauren Shuler Donner is back as producer according to the story. No word on the story. The Wolverine was based on the classic “Wolverine in Japan” storyline by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller.
What classic Wolverine storyline could make a great sequel? Given the time travel/changing history elements of Days of Future Past, the creators could turn to Old Man Logan by Fox Creative Consultant Mark Millar for inspiration?
Since Claremont’s classic stories have been successful perhaps the studio will revisit his first Wolverine solo tale that introduced the country of Madripoor? Here’s a link to Wolverine: The Adamantium Collection of great Logan stories.
