Nightwing comes home to Gotham City only to be captured by the Crime Syndicate, tortured and in front of the Secret Society of Super Villains… his secret is exposed!
Superwoman rips off his mask and says his name and identity to the entire DC Comics criminal underworld and broadcast to the entire world.
It wasn’t enough to wipe out the Justice League, the Crime Syndicate wanted to show how powerless and vulnerable you are if you oppose them.
“For me, he’s the leader of the next generation,” Johns tells IGN exclusively.
“In a vacuum where the Justice Leagues are gone, Nightwing was the top guy. Just like when the Outsider wanted to take down the Justice League originally, who’s the hero he wanted to break faith in? Well, that’s Superman. He’s top of the food chain. But with them gone, Nightwing is top of the food chain in my eyes.”
“The Crime Syndicate are going to make an example out of him, but also Nightwing has a very personal story that I’ll be telling with Owlman throughout Forever Evil that connects with Dick Grayson.”
Grayson was an outstanding Batman (when Bruce was presumed dead) in Grant Morrison’s Batman and Robin series. Dick is one of THE greatest heroes in the DC Universe but always falls second to Bruce. While Forever Evil will be hell for Dick it will be amazing for Nightwing fans to see him get the spotlight he deserves.
