HERO FALLS In CIVIL WAR II & More MARVEL July Books

Marvel prepared fans by warning an iconic character will die in Civil War II.

We can only speculate on who.

Now we know when.

Civil War II #3 teases “one of the biggest heroes in the Marvel Universe will fall” and the following issue declares the “shocking verdict” of “trial of the century.”

Before we speculate on who will fall…here’s a quick of Civil War II. A new Inhuman with the power to predict the future emerges. Some heroes want to change the future and harness this ability to prevent crime, others want to protect the future. Captain Marvel and Iron Man will lead to two factions of heroes.

Back who will fall?

Some July books will have a “Death of X” variant cover. Earlier this year, Marvel teased Death of X this Fall. It’s easy to assume this tease was for the death of an X-Man or X-Men in a mutant themed event. Could the July variants be a hint of what’s to come or is the “X” referring to the hero who dies in this month’s fateful issue that will certainly have ramifications this Fall and beyond across the Marvel Universe?

Is a Hulk going to die?

Bruce Banner was cured of his curse and Amadeus Cho is the Totally Awesome Hulk. Being the Hulk was a burden to Banner but Cho enjoyed the power and superhero status. Issue#8 asks if Cho “one of the long line of HULKS that face certain tragedy?” Then in Issue #9 Amadeus Cho “will lose someone close to him. Now he’s mad. Very MAD.”

Will Marvel kill off Bruce Banner and unleash the Totally Awesome Amadeus Cho as a Rampaging Hulk?

Back to The Trial:

What is the shocking verdict and who is the defendant?

The preview for Captain America: Steve Rogers #3 states “the trial of Maria Hill begins” as the S.H.I.E.L.D. director faces the consequences for her actions revealed in Avengers: Standoff.  Hill created Pleasant Hill, a cosmic cube powered prison for super villains living mind-wiped “normal” lives in this small town simulation. Most of those criminals broke free and some will star in a new Thunderbolts led by Winter Soldier.

Old school fans can’t help but remember when Rogers went to trial in the aftermath of Civil War – will there be blood on the courthouse steps again?

Here are more highlights to watch for in new books coming from Marvel in July:

Civil War II: Kingpin #1 (of 4) How is Wilson Fisk profiting in a new world order where crime is cut before it can happen. An underworld look at the big conflict by Matthew Rosenberg and Ricardo Lopez Ortiz.

Civil War II: Choosing Sides #3, 4 features Nick Fury, War Machine, Goliath, Punisher and Kate Bishop in this anthology series dealing with the fallout of a hero’s fall and the verdict in the main series.

Civil War II: Spider-Man #2, The Inhuman Ulysses warning Peter Parker that someone close to him is a traitor.

Civil War II: X-Men #2, Magneto risks war with the Inhumans and mutants to save his race.

Invincible Iron Man #11 asks if Steve Rogers and Tony Stark find themselves on the same side of Civil War II?

Captain America: Steve Rogers #4 reveals Rogers will try to broker a truce between Iron Man and Captain Marvel.

International Iron Man #5 Tony will face the “true identity” of his parents. During Kieron Gillen’s run, he revealed Tony was adopted by the Starks and this title by Brian Michael Bendis sees Tony search for the truth.

All-New Wolverine #10 Laura teams up with Old Man Logan and which side will she choose when “a terrible prophecy puts someone she loves in the crosshairs of her allies.”

Apocalypse Wars will conclude in Extraordinary, Uncanny, All-New X-Men books. The most ominous tease is from Extraordinary X-Men # 12 for a battle in the future in which “not every X-Men will escape unscathed” while in Uncanny X-Men #10, can Magneto and Psylocke stop the Son of Apocalypse and an army of Archangels of Death.

Who do you think will die in Civil War II not that we have more clues? Our original theories are way off now.
