We’re taking National Cat Day to sing the purr-aises of Patsy Walker aka Hellcat!
You may have picked up on our love for feline themed hero.

Back when Marvel started a new Defenders book, then a Fearless Defenders book – I hoped for a Hellcat appearance. Writer Cullen Bunn did grant this geek his wish in the cancelled-too-soon Fearless Defenders.

Charles Soule made Hellcat part of Jennifer Walters team in the now cancelled She-Hulk series.

Like cats – I’m asking for one more life for this character.

Patsy Walker first appeared in teen romantic comedy comics then was integrated into the Marvel Universe in Avengers #144.

Patsy took a catsuit with claws and a grappling hook, mastered martial arts and later developed some psychic abilities. I remember the friendship between Patsy and Valkyrie in The Defenders from the 1970’s. Patsy would fall in love, marry and eventually be driven mad by Damian Hellstorm aka Son of Satan. Hellcat would recover and guest star in many teams and books including a great limited series by Kathryn Immonen.

Hellcat is fun, sexy, smart and confident. Marrying the Son of Satan was a hell of a mistake but even the smartest women can fall for the wrong guy! She did leave with some occult powers at least. Hellcat is a strong utility player. She got sent to Alaska during the Fifty State Initiative but did her duty!

On this National Cat Day we encourage fans to ask Marvel to Raise Hellcat and give Patsy a shot at her own solo book – maybe even bring Patsy’s rival from the romance comics Hedy Wolfe into the All-New Marvel Now.
