Marvel shared more big changes coming to the Guardians of the Galaxy.
It’s a whole new cosmic thing when the Guardians relaunch with a brand new number one this Fall.
Ben Grimm aka The Thing (formerly of the Fantastic Four) is just one of the new members of a Star-Lord free team with Rocket re-assembling the squad after Secret Wars.
An unlikely assembling of misfits is one of the great appeals of the Guardians. Marvel is shaking up the lineup again.
“The raccoon is in charge!! So says the solicitation!! So says the raccoon!! But, there may be other people on the team who are not taking this as seriously has he would like,” writer Brian Michael Bendis told Marvel.com.
“The raccoon is in charge now! This is the moment I waited for since the beginning of my run on this book.” added artist Valerio Schiti.
Peter Quill is off the team after becoming King of Spartax. Gamora is MIA after the events of Black Vortex but Bendis teases:
“This is a big spoiler so I’m going to say: big spoiler!! But when Gamora finds a way back into the book, it will be a surprise.”
Bendis explains why Ben Grimm joins Rocket, Groot, Drax, Venom.
“Ben’s first dream was to be an astronaut, and he finally got his wish. Also, placing him in space makes him less of a creature and more normal to his surroundings.”
And is it Star-Lord or Star-Lady?
Regardless, Kitty Pryde has left the X-Men and joined up with Rocket’s revamped team.
Bendis revealed villains introduced in Guardians of Knowhere (his Secret Wars tie-in book) will return in the new volume.
