The original Guardians of the Galaxy return in Guardians 3000 #1 from Dan Abnett and Gerardo Sandoval this week.
The cast of the current comic book series and hit Marvel movie are the new generation of heroes to have the team name. The original version were survivors of a massive war who banded together in the 31st century against the Brotherhood of the Badoon. The team traveled back in time with fight against and with the Avengers in the 1970’s.
Vance Astro, Starhawk, Charlie 27, Yondu and Martinex are back in a new adventures.
“Guardians 3000 is truly a case of you asked for it, we delivered,” Executive Editor Mike Marts told Marvel.com. “Readers have been begging for the return of the original Guardians team for a long time…and we’re happy to debut this series right in the midst of ‘Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy’ movie excitement!”
Fans got a preview of the new book in the milestone Guardians of the Galaxy #14.
Dan Abnett (with Andy Lanning) took various solo characters to co-create the current version of the Guardians in the Annihilation event. Now Abnett brings the original team back in action.
The big question – the original team has a flame-haired female named Nikki. Is she joining the series eventually?
