Fans are speculating Black Widow or Captain Marvel could be the first female hero to star in a solo Marvel movie but has Gamora blasted to the front of the line?

Black Widow has the Avengers fan base and after the success of Lucy, Scarlett Johansson has even more box-office power. I definitely want a Black Widow solo movie or a Natasha/Bucky team-up movie.

The Carol Corps can’t be denied. I hope to see fan favorite Carol Danvers soar as Captain Marvel in Avengers 3 and beyond.

For your consideration…

Zoe Saldana takes the lead in a Gamora solo movie!

Saldana has more than earned her place in sci-fi iconography with strong roles in Star Trek, Avatar and now Guardians.  Saldana proved she could lead a film in the action packed revenge thriller Columbiana.

As for storyline, Marvel could explore her upbringing in the by Thanos and her rivalry with Nebula. Thanos adopted the orphan Gamora and trained her as a living weapon to hunt and destroy the Magus (aka Adam Warlock) a mortal enemy of the Mad God. She more than earned her reputation as “the deadliest woman in the galaxy.”

Nova (Richard Rider) is a celebrated member of the Nova Corps. Gamora and Nova shared an intense relationship with Nova during the famous Annihilation storyline.  Gamora and Rocket helped usher the new teen Nova (Sam Alexander) into his own solo series and acted as his mentors. Marvel could use the Gamora’s star power to help launch Nova.

Gamora is the Black Widow and in some ways, the Wolverine of outer space, a killer on a mission for redemption after finding revenge didn’t make her whole. Saldana is a power player in some mega franchises who can step up to lead.
