How do you follow up a story about a serial killer of Immortals?

Drop a Godbomb!

Jason Aaron kicked off his Thor: God of Thunder series with the Avenger battling Gorr, the God Butcher in three time periods: Young Thor fighting and drinking with his Vikings, Thor in a present day alien world and King Thor, the last of the Asgardians in a final battle. This week in Thor: God of Thunder #7 the Godbomb arc detonates:

“As we’ll see, Gorr has his own world in the future, and he has legions of godslaves building something called “the Godbomb.” We’ll be meeting a few of those godslaves, and some of them will be a big part of the book going forward. Some new supporting characters for Thor, basically,” Aaron tells Comics Newsarama.

Old King Thor will still be part of the next arc.

“I wouldn’t assume he’s quite that diminished. We’ve seen him looking pretty beaten down over the course of the first five issues, it’s true, but as we start the “Godbomb” arc, King Thor has found a second lease on life, and he’s not about to squander it. Remember, this guy is the All-Father of his era. He’s every bit as badass and powerful as the Odin we’ve always seen in the Marvel U. Once that power and fighting spirit gets rekindled in King Thor, look out, as he may just be the most powerful version of Thor we’ve ever seen,” Aaron tells Marvel.com.

The Girls of Thunder are set to be introduced in issue 8. No word yet on exactly who these women are but Aaron drops a big tease for the following chapter.

“Let’s just say, the fights in Thor: God Thunder #9 are the most epic and—literally—world-shattering scenes I’ve ever written. And that’s only part three of a five issue arc.”

The 5-part Godbomb arc kicks off this week.
