The Spirit of Vengeance roars into the missions of Agent Coulson when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns for Season 4.
Marvel announced Gabriel Luna (True Detective) will join the cast as Robbie Reyes during a presentation at San Diego Comic-Con.
Who is Robbie Reyes?
He is the Ghost Rider, the Spirit of Vengeance.
In comics Reyes was the third man to become Ghost Rider, who becomes bonded to a demonic spirit with a flaming skull head, super powered physical abilities and vast supernatural powers…sporting black leather and a car that’s literally hell on wheels.
Reyes is a Mexican-American teen who worked part time in a garage with a younger physically disabled brother. When a mysterious hot rod arrives in the shop, Reyes borrows it to enter a street race to win money for his family. The car is loaded with drugs and bonded to an evil spirit. He was created by Felipe Smith and Tradd Moore.
Will Ghost Rider be an enemy or join Coulson’s Secret Warriors?
“Season 4 will unquestionably be the series’ biggest, most ambitious story yet, and it all begins with the introduction of one of our greatest legacy characters in Ghost Rider,” said Executive Producer/Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. “When the Spirit of Vengeance rides into S.H.I.E.L.D., it’ll change everything.”
Will the addition of this Ghost Rider signal the return of a villain?
In the comics Reyes bonding with the demon is tied to Calvin Zabo aka Mister Hyde, father of Daisy/Quake. Could this mean Kyle MacLachlan will return to the series?
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns September 2oth at 10 pm on ABC.
