This GENERATIONS issue is a must because the final three pages set the stage for MARVEL LEGACY #1. Writer Jason Aaron ties two cosmic forces from two major Marvel franchises.

What could this revelation mean for the future of the Marvel Universe?

Aaron with artist Mahmud Asrar and colorist Jordie Bellaire unite Jane Foster with the Odinson but the Odin steals the show.

Before we continue here’s a SPOILER ALERT!

If you have not read GENERATIONS: THE THUNDER #1 yet stop reading now and get to your local comic book shop.

Seriously.

OK.

Here it comes.

The Vanishing Point is what is bringing heroes from across time together. We’ve seen young Jean Grey meet Jean Grey/Phoenix, All-Wolverine/Laura meet Wolverine/Logan and Hulks (Amadeus Cho and Bruce Banner) with more on the way including Mar-Vell.

In a time twist worthy of the Doctor Who/River Song time-crossed romance – Thor/Jane Foster comes face to face with Thor/Odinson in a time before they ever met.  Both Gods of Thunder are brought to ancient Egypt to save Vikings from Apocalypse. This is a rematch for the Odinson who clashed with En Sabah Nur in the first volume of UNCANNY AVENGERS.

The champions of Asgard and Asgardia unite to take down Apocalypse and see a strange version of Loki. The encounter makes a powerful impact on Jane Foster and her commitment to being Thor.

The big revelation?

Odin reveals an unforgettable lost love – the Phoenix!

The All-Father reflects on a one-time encounter with the cosmic entity from X-Men canon.

The final page shows a young Odin in a passionate kiss with the fiery Phoenix in female form with a promise their story will continue in MARVEL LEGACY #1.

The massive one-shot sets the stage for what’s next across the Marvel Comics line but it will start in the past with what Aaron calls the “prehistoric Avengers.”

This ancient super group are Odin, Iron Fist, Starbrand, Ghost Rider, Phoenix, Agamotto, and Black Panther.

Odin and Phoenix on the first Avengers? Odin and Phoenix in a cosmic hookup?

Aaron’s epic Marvel resume includes X-Men and his current Thor run. He’s weaved themes of both in both franchises. In THE MIGHTY THOR, The Goddess of Thunder fought Shi’ar Gods and the Phoenix appeared in “The Asgard/Shi’ar War

This secret romance inspires a world of speculation.

Could Odin and the Phoenix Force union have spawned a child or children? Who could they be? Are they someone we already know?

How will this affect Jean Grey and her quest to ready to face the Phoenix when it comes for her again?

MARVEL LEGACY #1 by Aaron and artist Esad Ribic arrives September 27th.
