GeekGirlCon welcomes Ms. Marvel writer G. Willow Wilson and expands with new events for its fifth year.

The Seattle event celebrating the role of women in geek culture will have its inaugural fashion show, on Saturday October 10th at 8pm.

Last year’s event was a sold out smash even without major comic book creators of celebrities. This year acclaimed Seattle based writer G. Willow Wilson will be part of the panel Women, Diversity and Comics: A Non-Compliant Discussion About the Comic Book Industry.

Wilson introduced the fan-favorite Kamala Khan, a teen of Muslim faith who became the new Ms. Marvel and inspired a legion of fans, the Kamala Corps.  The teen hero joins the All-New, All-Different Avengers this Fall. Wilson wrote the all-female X-Men team book and co-launched A-Force, an all-female Avengers book this summer. Wilson appears at the panel on Sunday at 1 pm.

Geek Girl Con is a family friendly event open to all with everything you love at cons with inspired panels on comics, cosplay, science fiction and video games. Connections is designed to empower women to discover careers in science, gaming and every geek themed field from fact to fiction.

It’s an opportunity to gather for all lovers of comics, gaming, sci-fi and cosplay but you will learn, be inspired and maybe empowered.

This event stresses that every geek has “cred” regardless of sex, age, race, orientation or abilities and all should be welcomed at every comic shop, con, message board and forum.

GeekGirlCon is October 10th and 11th at the Conference Center in Seatttle. Here’s a link to the full schedule of panels and a link to buy passes.
