(Update! Variety reports Dinklage is playing the main villain)
(Original story:)
Has the new X-Men movie found its villain or a real cool mutant hero to joi the cause?
Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister of Game of Thrones) is joining the cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past according to a tweet from director Bryan Singer.
“Officially like to welcome #PeterDinklage from #GameOfThrones to #XMEN #DaysofFuturePast Very very excited!”
No word on Dinklage’s role. It you want to go for the obvious casting idea: could he be playing Puck given his stature? Puck is a member of Alpha Flight, the team Wolverine was supposed to lead. I can see Jackman and Dinklage was the rough Canadians heroes scrapping in a bar now! Puck is currently starring in Uncanny X-Force. Will the actor shave his head and grow a thick mustache for the role?
Dinklage could be playing a revamped version of Mortimer Toynbee? Ray Park played the Toad in the first film as Magneto’s super-agile enforcer.
The film is based on the classic storyline in which X-Men of the future and past work together to prevent a terrorist act by evil mutants which leads to the creation of the Sentinels and mass extermination of mutants.
Original X-Men trilogy stars Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore will join the cast from X-Men:First Class including Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence.
