GAME OF THRONES Actor Joins MARVEL’S INHUMANS

Marvel announced the first cast member of the upcoming Inhumans television series coming to ABC.

Iwan Rheon will play Maximus the Mad. The announcement called the villain the lead character in the next ABC/Marvel show.

Maximus was created before Rheon was born but the actor seems born to play the Inhuman bad guy. Rheon played Ramsay Bolton on Game of Thrones. Now Rheon play a genius with hypnotic powers and obsession with political power.

The new series will focus on the Royal Family who rules over a secret city of Inhumans called Attilan. Maximus is devoted to his fellow Inhumans but secretly covets the throne held by his brother Black Bolt and his brother’s Queen, Medusa. Maximus is a genius inventory with vast mental powers and a super intellect granted by exposure to the Terrigen Crystals. Black Bolt’s brother led several coup attempts against his brother but he’s often forgiven when the Inhuman race is threatened by a common enemy.

“Iwan’s ability to be charming, roguish, and still completely unexpectedly dangerous were all the different sides we needed to bring the character to life. We’re thrilled to have him on board,” Jeph Loeb, Head of Marvel Television and Executive Producer told Marvel.com.

“Maximus is a complex character. Likable, charming, tragic and villainous all in the same moment, and I’m very excited to have someone of Iwan’s considerable talent.” added showrunner Scott Buck.

Maximus Boltagon and the other members of the Royal Family were created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in the pages of Fantastic Four.

Marvel’s The Inhumans will debut on IMAX before joining the ABC lineup.
