What’s your greatest fear?
Is there a comic book representation of the thing that gives you chills?
As we celebrate Halloween remember the scary monsters in the pages of your favorite comics.
The X-Men fight zealots, robots and rival mutant clans but they’ve been through hell literally thanks to demons, aliens and even Dracula!
Here are four X-Men comic book monsters we don’t want inside our home, our body or anywhere near the vicinity:
The Brood!
These insectoid aliens lay eggs in your body then their babies burst out of you! The X-Men have fought these nasty invaders over the decades. Some of our mutant heroes were even infected. Wolverine’s healing factor was tested as never before when he was infected by one of the parasites. Kitty Pryde was “impregnated” with a brood of Brood but escaped a horrific fate. There’s only one Brood you should welcome at your door. Broo is a mutant among his race. Broo looks like his parasitic relatives but wears glasses and clothes. He’s intelligent and non-violent but still could make you jump at the sight of him.
The N’Garai!
A race of demons created by Chthon exiled from Earth who constantly plot to escape from their dimension to feast on humanity again. One of the demon incursions lead to a scary Christmas Eve for Kitty Pryde. Back when Kitty was still a rookie she was trapped alone with a N’Garai in the mansion but our heroine did her best “Ripley” and blasted the demonic invader before the X-Men could return home.
Selene!
What if Dracula met his femme fatale? Selene is stunningly beautiful but she’s literally a maneater! Selene is a mutant with multiple powers and she’s a psychic vampire who’s preyed on humanity for centuries. Evidence shows Selene conniving in the Conan era before recorded time but may be most infamous for inspiring a cult in ancient Rome. Selene was a member of X-Men villains the Hellfire Club. Selene’s drains the life of humans to extend her own evil existence.
The Phalanx!
Hard tech horror from outer space! The Phalanx transform humans or any sentient life form into techno-organic lifeforms and assimilate them into their crazy collective. The first infected were exposed to a virus from the Technarchy. Using the remains of Warlock, a “good” member of the Technarchy, Earth’s first infected were mutant haters who wanted to turn themselves into living Sentinels. Emma Frost, Banshee and Sabretooth helped the young mutants who became Generation X when the Phalanx stalked and sought to enslave the rookie mutants. The X-Men fought these terrifying tech hybrids on Earth and in deep space.
Our Friday Four on Halloween Eve! What or Who are your favorite X villains?
Have a safe and happy Halloween.
