Fans are breathing a sigh of relief after the finale of Marvel’s Agent Carter.
Hayley Atwell reprised her role as Peggy Carter in an action-packed adventure filled with Marvel Easter Eggs. Peggy and Edwin Jarvis (James D’Arcy) teamed up for a covert mission to clear Howard Stark’s good name and recover his inventions from Leviathan.
During Peggy’s adventure she reunited with the Howling Commandos, explored the Black Widow program and went up against villains who would become part of Iron Man’s future rogues gallery.
When not if Peggy returns for a second season here are four characters from the early days of Marvel Comics history that would be perfect for a second season and thrilling adventure for Peggy Carter:
Jim Hammond.
Let’s go way back to the beginning! Born in Marvel Comics #1 (when Marvel was Timely Comics) the original Human Torch was an android who could burst into flames and fly. Hammond was a creation of Dr. Phineas Horton. The genius inventor fell from grace and never enjoyed credit for his creations. Jim teamed up with Captain America and Namor as the Invaders fighting Nazis in World War II. Peggy’s new mission could be with Jim to find the lost genius before Hydra can grab him.
Spitfire.
Lady Jacqueline Falsworth Crichton is the daughter of Union Jack (England’s Captain America.) In World War II, Jackie was kidnapped and bit by Baron Blood the vampire but a blood transfusion from Hammond (android plasma) saved her life and gave her super speed, strength and healing ability. Spitfire could be fantastic ally and friend for Peggy.
The Hellfire Club.
This might be tricky. Marvel’s Hellfire Club originally appeared in the X-Men. The Club was an elite society of rich and powerful leaders who indulged in a decadent parties. The Lords Cardinal were a secret club within a club of mutants who manipulated political events for their own agenda. The Hellfire Club was an actual organization based on gentlemen’s clubs in 18th century England. A secret society of millionaire manipulators would be perfect villains for Peggy to bust in the 1950’s.
Dominic Fortune.
David Fortunov was a “brigand-for-hire” who started his life as a crook but he once saved a young Steve Rogers from bullies and was a Coney Island escape artist. Dominic is a scoundrel who often works both sides of a conflict to his own advantage. From bodyguard to mercenary-for-hire, Fortune’s global exploits to him to Latveria, Wakanda in battles with Hydra. Dominic is also a womanizer who could try to woo Peggy but we all know she will ultimately show him who’s boss!
Those are just four blasts from Marvel’s past that could be part of an exiting new adventure for Peggy. Hayley Atwell will appear as Peggy in Avengers: Age of Ultron but here’s hoping this amazing actress and character will get a well-deserved second season of Agent Carter.
