The Flash/Arrow crossover event: Heroes Join Forces introduced super villain Vandal Savage and his eternal rivalary with Hawkman and Hawkgirl and set the stage for Legends of Tomorrow.

On The Flash Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) met the passionate warrior/lovers Kendra/Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee) and Carter Hall/Hawkman (Falk Hentschel).

The Flash then sped to Arrow as fan-favorite and new heroes join together against the threat of Savage which continues in the time spanning new series.

The super powered crossover didn’t just serve to launch Legends but set up huge twists for Barry and Oliver in both series.

Before we continue here’s a SPOILER ALERT!

If you have not watched this week’s Flash/Arrow crossover stop watching now.

Seriously.

OK.

Here it comes.

Jay Garrick regained his super speed…but it was all too quick. The Flash of Earth 2 was back in action after taking a dose of vector 8 to phase into the Earth 2 Harrison Welles’s chest to pull a bullet shot accidentally by Patty.

Kendra transformed from barista into heroine. Hawkgirl took flight and immediately became a target of Vandal Savage (Casper Crump) as the immortal DC villain made his first appearance in CW’s expanding universe. Kendra breaks up Cisco after reuniting with Carter Hall aka Hawkman and we saw the birth of their love story in ancient Egypt.

Barry briefly met this season’s big bad on Arrow. Is The Flash’s encounter with Damien Darhk an omen we’ll see another crossover this season?

Oliver saw his ex-girlfriend and son? You may recall Queen’s mother sent his pregnant ex off to Allen’s hometown. Later a test proves William is really Ollie’s son. In a move away from comics canon, Queen’s son is William and not Connor is there a way this child will grow up to become Connor Hawke? Does Samantha’s return mean the end of Olicity?

On Arrow, Barry did the time warp again! Barry time jumped again.

Everybody died! Not really. In the first big fight Savage wiped out the main casts of the two shows but the didn’t thanks to Barry’s time jump. Thanks to Barry’s time travel twist – the heroes defeated Vandal Savage. What will be the consequences?

We know Savage will return to become the primary villain of Legends of Tomorrow. Malcolm Merlyn seized the villain’s ashes. Does the League and Lazarus Pit factor into the Savage comeback?

Here’s  Legends of Tomorrow trailer and the show arrives January 21st on The CW.
