Jada Pinkett Smith revealed she’s only signed on to Gotham for one year and will not be returning.

Does this have to mean the end of Fish Mooney?

The mobster could join the elite sorority of comic book characters that didn’t originate in comics. We asked if Fish could be the next Harley Quinn? Upon more comics research there’s even more reason to have this ruthless femme fatale join the Batman family of comics. One character on Gotham made the leap from animated series to comics and now television.

Here are four female characters who didn’t make their debut in comics:

Firestar. Angelica Jones first sparked on Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends. Peter Parker, Bobby Drake aka Iceman and Jones were best friends who saved New York in the 1982 Saturday morning animated series.

Firestar was introduced into the Marvel Comics Universe in Uncanny X-Men #193 as a member of the Hellions, students of Emma Frost. The fire powered mutant became a founding member of the original New Warriors and briefly an Avenger. Firestar recently join the Jean Grey School in Amazing X-Men.

Detective Renee Montoya. Victoria Cartagena plays this officer of the Major Crimes Unit, recovering addict and former lover of Barbara Keen, James Gordon’s fiancee. Initially created for Batman: The Animated Series, this tough Gotham City officer often partnered with Harvey Bullock and joined DC Comics in Batman #475 in 1992. Montoya starred in the Gotham Central series and recruited by Victor Sage to be the new Question.

X-23. This “daughter” of Wolverine was born on X-Men: Evolution then leaped to comics in NYX #1. Laura Kinney is a clone of Wolverine and bred to be a killer but broke her conditioning. Laura has been a member of Logan’s secret X-Force team, the X-Men, Avengers Academy and currently co-starring in Wolverines after the secret of the late Logan.

Harley Queen. Dr. Harleen Quinzel reigns supreme as the multimedia queen of comics. The psychiatrist was treated the Dark Knight’s greatest rogues at Arkham Asylum when she fell madly in move with the Joker and became his lover, henchwoman and the breakout star of Batman: The Animated Series.

Harley Quinn would became a fan-favorite of the Batman books and be featured in great epics, Gotham City Sirens and the Mad Love graphic novel. Harley now stars in her own solo series and New Suicide Squad plus a Harley Quinn/Power Girl book launches this June. Margot Robbie will play her in the highly anticipated Suicide Squad movie in 2016.

It’s been a fun to see Jada Pinkett Smith be so good at being bad on Gotham. After stealing every scene she’s in – it would be a crime for Fish Mooney not be invade Batman comics.
