Was his fate revealed in this week’s Extraordinary X-Men #2?
In the first issue set eight months after the Secret Wars finale, we learned Cyclops did “something” that made mutants more hated and feared than ever. Mutants are also under attack from the Terrigenesis. The same Terrigen Cloud that creating new Inhumans is killing Children of the Atom.
If Scott’s fate wasn’t already sealed in Secret Wars then what happened in between the events of the finale and Extraordinary X-Men?

Here it comes.
Cyclops (as the Phoenix) was one of the nine survivors of the Final Incursion in a “life raft” only to be killed by “God” Doom in Secret Wars.
In Extraordinary X-Men #2 Storm tells Old Man Logan Scott Summers is dead.
Ororo’s revelation brings up some big burning questions:
Did Cyclops really die at the hands of Doctor Doom and he never came back to this new Marvel reality? With two more issues of Secret Wars left, there’s a chance Cyclops is reborn since he was powered by a Phoenix Egg at the time of his demise.
What did Cyclops do? Is Storm referring to the finale of Uncanny X-Men #600 when he rallied all the world’s mutants together in Washington, D.C. to demonstrate mutants aren’t a threat?
Did Cyclops kill someone, orchestrate a deadlier stunt, fake his death or sacrifice himself in a public event that inspired more hate and fear of mutants?
Was Cyclops murdered and if so who did it?
Did Cyclops die after exposure to Terrigen Cloud?
Where is Emma Frost and what does she know about her former lover’s fate?
What does young Scott Summers know? We may get a hint when All-New X-Men #1 arrives. The young original X-Men minus Jean are on the run with Laura (X-23 now Wolverine) Evan and Idie in the new volume by Dennis Hopeless.
Our theory (or is it wishful thinking?) is Scott faked his death to prep for what is looking like an eventual X-Men vs Inhumans war. Terrigen is making Inhumans rise while mutants are going extinct again. Cyclops is always willing to sacrifice and make the hard choices to save his people. And don’t you want to a see a throwdown between Cyke and Black Bolt?!
Cyclops may have a secret weapon inside – remember he may still have a sliver of The Void locked inside him.
Plus, Cyclops is too important a character to just die off camera (or should I say page?)
