Is Sue Storm the only surviving member of the Marvel’s First Family in Age of Ultron? This week’s Fantastic Four 5Au give us ominous hints to the fates of Reed, Ben, Johnny and the kids. It’s the first issue to show us “life during wartime” as Ultron was in his finale stage of conquering Earth!
When the new Fantastic Four book kicked off – Reed took his family on a vacation to unexplored worlds and dimensions. It’s really just a cover for Reed’s hunt for a cure to a mysterious sickness that’s killing him and could potentially infect his entire family.
The Four get a distress call from Black Panther and rush to Earth only to find the FF home and New York leveled, broken heroes lying in the wreckage, and word that even Doom has been beaten by Ultron!
What follows is a brutal battle between the Fantastic Four and an army of Ultrons cut with scenes of Reed’s heartbreaking broadcasts to Franklin and Valeria back on their spaceship.
Fantastic Four 5Au continues Matt Fraction’s excellent relaunch of Marvel’s greatest family and a frightening look at one of the final battles as the Age of Ultron gripped Earth in a cold, cruel metal grip. Don’t think this as just a tie-in issue but more an excellent part of two engaging ongoing stories of this fantastic family and their role in a struggle against a relentless enemy to their entire Marvel family.
