Illyana you have been warned…again!

Storm’s Extraordinary X-Men fought to save the life of Apocalypse (yes, you read right) in this week’s issue 12. A greater evil could be growing within X-Haven.

Writer Jeff Lemire and artist Humberto Ramos delivered the latest chapter of Apocalypse Wars while giving another ominous warning about a threat that’s been building since their first issue.

Storm, Iceman, Jean Grey, Logan, Nightcrawler and Cerebra are trapped a thousand years in the future after pursuing hundreds of mutant embryos. In this Omega World Colossus had been transformed into a Horseman of Apocalypse.

After a thrilling issue, we have twisted cliffhanger with a X-Man turned rogue and the team forced to save and keep one of their oldest enemies alive. But this is an important chapter for Magik fans and what’s next.

Before Death of X and Inhumans vs X-Men, Lemire still has a big story arc to spin that he’s been building since the first issue.

Illyana has taken a young mutant named Sapna under her wing. This young Indian mutant has supernatural powers including the ability to control the demons of Limbo and see portals into other realms.

When the X-Men went to Weirdworld in issue 7, Illyana received a warning from an ancient sorcerer about the Fall of Kingdoms and that “not even this little girl will be able to save you once it begins.”

Lemire declared Kingdoms Fall begins in issue 13 but this week’s issue featured a dire warning for Magik. Will Illyana have to kill her student to prevent a supernatural apocalypse?

Before we continue here’s a SPOILER ALERT!

If you have not read Extraordinary X-Men #12 stop reading now.

Seriously.

OK.

Here it comes.

Illyana shares a connection with Sapna because she’s haunted by her demons…literally and figuratively. Illyana was kidnapped as a child and raised in the demonic world of Limbo where she became a powerful sorceress. She likely sees Sapna as herself as a little girl and she’s determined to teach and protect this young mutant with demonic based abilities.

Will Magik be forced to kill her?

As Magik ventured through the timestream to join the fight against Apocalypse in the future with her team she passed through a future with cities in ruins and two cloaked figures who saw her as they read about in “The Great Chronicles.”

The two wizards looked like shriveled husks under their robes and said they stopped Illyana’s journey to the future to warn her claiming to be the “Daughters of Sapna” and declared that “she ended all life and created this kingdom of death” and urged Illyana to kill her.

The “daughters” said Sapna became a force of evil without Illyana to guide her and that Magik’s passing through time was foretold in “The Great Chronicles of the Magical Resistance.”

This latest hint on the road to Kingdoms Fall leaves us with new burning questions:

Illyana is not on the cover of Inhumans vs X-Men so does it mean she won’t survive the next arc?

Will something happen to Magik that forces her to leave the X-Men and Sapna behind?

Magik has been forced to take drastic measures before even if it means pain for the ones she loves – just ask her brother Colossus! But will Magik have to kill the little girl she’s sworn to teach and protect?
