Extraordinary X-Men by Jeff Lemire and Humberto Ramos is the new flagship X-book as the All-New, All-Different Marvel launches November 3rd. The cover and teaser raise a ton of burning questions about the new status of mutants after Secret Wars.

Lemire teased Extraordinary X-Men forms as a result of a conflict with the Inhumans. The Terrigenesis that transformed humans into new Inhumans is now a deadly affecting on mutant DNA.

As Storm says in the preview “The Terrigen Mists aren’t just killing us…they’ve sterilized us as well.”

While a ton of answers will likely come with Uncanny X-Men #600 in October, here are our top burning questions:

Beast is now part of Uncanny Inhumans. The Terrigen Mists revelation explains why Doctor McCoy is on Medusa’s team perhaps to study the Inhumans and find a cure.

Are Cyclops and Emma Frost early victims of Terrigenesis? Scott and Emma are among the missing mutants after Secret Wars. Could this powerhouse couple be on a covert mission to save the race or dead because of the Mists?

Why did Jean Grey break away from her fellow original (All-New) X-Men to join Storm’s team? The other time-lost X-Men (along with X-23) are on the run in a new All-New X-Men by Dennis Hopeless.

Why is Jean wearing the classic Marvel Girl uniform?

This young Jean was overwhelmed when her powers kicked in revealing the future history in front of her. The defiant Jean took control of her teammates, vowed to stay in the present and chart a new future while developing new powers. With Scott Summers MIA, Jean may feel a need to help Storm find the missing mutants the other Jean shared a connection with. With Mister Sinister as the first villain, Jean will be an even greater target. Essex is obsessed with the genetic lines of Summers and Grey. He once cloned Jean, what will he do now that he has the original?

Is Iceman gay? Young Jean probed Young Bobby Drake’s mind, discovered he was gay and in a way, outed him. So if the time-lost Iceman is gay does that mean adult Bobby is too? Both Icemen will meet in Uncanny X-Men #600, the finale of the Brian Bendis X-run.

Colossus and Magik– is all forgiven? A bearded Peter Rasputin and Illyana are on the same team again after the events of Fear Itself and Avengers vs. X-Men. Peter’s love turned to hate over Illyana’s deceptions. He even vowed to kill ker. Both Rasputins have a connection to Kitty Pryde. Peter was Kitty’s great love and Illyana her best friend. Colossus and Kitty will have a reunion in Uncanny X-Men #600 that could heal the wounds between bitterly estranged brother and sister.

Why Old Man Logan? Wolverine is still dead but this future version of him will join the team have a “first time” meeting with Young Jean Grey.

“That baggage and that backstory is what makes Old Man Logan unique. Its what defines him against the others on the team and the Wolverine they knew. So these things were not a hindrance, but rather a gateway to interesting stories that we haven’t seen before with Logan and the X-Men.” Lemire told IGN.

“This Logan has a totally unique relationship to each member of the team. And each of those relationships are fresh and new to him and to them. Having him in the team shakes everything up in a really good way.”

Lemire is writing the new Old Man Logan series so expect a crossover of story plots.

Villain or Ally? Mister Sinister was revealed to be the first villain of the new series but with the mutant race on the road to extinction again, could the mad genetic genius or other classic enemies like Apocalypse become allies of the X-Men to save the race?

We’ve asked if a X-Men vs Inhumans war is coming? If the world hates and fears mutants more than ever, it’s likely mutants are taking the blame for spread of Inhumanity.

After reading X-Men since the Chris Claremont/John Byrne and experiencing multiple revamps and changes, the Children of the Atom are still exciting, fresha and daring. We eagerly await to see how we’ll remember the Lemire run and contributions to the X-Men legacy.

Until then, let the speculation mutate!
