ECCC Moment: No Hate for CYCLOPS

Fans love or hate Cyclops at this point after Schism and AvX. What the writer who intensified the Scott/Logan rivarly into a full-blown Schism?

It was one of my favorite moments from Marvel Pint O’ C.B.  (Cebulski) at Emerald City Comicon in Seattle this weekend. X-Men: Schism and former Wolverine and the X-Men writer Jason Aaron was on the fan question driven panel.

A fan asked how much Aaron hated Cyclops.

“I don’t hate Cyclops. I think it’s always dangerous to confuse a writer’s opinion with the character’s opinion,” said Aaron. “Wolverine doesn’t like Scott Summers, not me. I love Cyclops. If I get to write a Cyclops series one day, that would be awesome. Then I’d get to talk about how much he hates Wolverine.”

The writer referenced one of his final issues of Wolverine and the X-Men in which Logan and Scott were trapped, shared drinks and a moment of almost bonding every X-fan should read.

Judging from the cosplayers at the Seattle con there’s a lot of love for Scott Summers.

Jason Aaron is now writing Marvel’s big event series Original Sin. Which two lucky ECCC attendees got to read during the panel courtesy Editor Tom Brevoort.

Greg Rucka will write a new Cyclops ongoing starring the original Scott Summers brought into the present by Brian Bendis in All-New X-Men.
