Marvel V.P. C.B. Cebulski returned to Emerald City Comicon with Executive Editor Mike Marts to share news on the publisher’s big event Secret Wars.
In the Marvel: Black Vortex to Secret Wars panel writers Rick Remender, Kelly Sue DeConnick and Charles Soule answered fan questions and teased their upcoming books tied to Jonathan Hickman’s epic that destroys the Marvel Universe and sets up a Battleworld. Each Warzone is based on a classic Marvel story or time period.
“We’ve never seen what happens when Hydra wins,” said Remenber of Hail Hydra, “there’s a bridge from Captain America that connects directly into this.”
Soule compared Inhumans: Attilan Rising to Casablanca starring Medusa and Black Bolt while in Civil War, “it’s not just the superheroes, we’re all part of it. It’s gigantic. It’s the biggest thing, scope-wise, I’ve ever done.”
Captain Marvel and the Carol Corps is “aviation porn” Kelly Sue DeConnick and confirmed Helen Cobb, Banshee Squadron and Jackie Cochran will appear in the Hala Field section of Battleworld.
When questioned about about Fantastic Four, Cebulski said they have an important part in Secret Wars, there will be a Fantastic Four book and reminded fans that Johnny Storm will star in Uncanny Inhumans.
One fan asked about the aftermath of Secret Wars. Remender said he has “grown man goosebumps” over the stories he’s planning after the event.
Tomorrow at 2pm is Marvel’s Next Big Thing panel with Kieron Gillen, Terry Dodson, Stacey Lee, Robbi Rodriguez, Cebulski and Marts talking Star Wars, Silk and Spider-Gwen.
