DWAYNE JOHNSON Confirms He’s BLACK ADAM

Dwayne Johnson is playing super villain Black Adam in a movie version of Shazam.

 

The actor revealed the casting via Twitter with this image of the bad guy putting the hurt on the hero:

 

“Kneel at his feet or get crushed by his boot.” My honor to become.. #BlackAdam #TheAntiHero #DCComics

 

Darren Lemke has been hired to write a script by New Line according to Variety.

 

Shazam (formerly Captain Marvel) is a DC Comics hero. Billy Batson is a teen who can transform in the hero by saying the word and gains the power of mythological deities.

 

Shazam is currently a member of Justice League in the comics.

 

Black Adam (aka Teth Adam) was an earlier version of Shazam in ancient Egypt who survived into the modern age. Black Adam was later portrayed as an anti-hero attempting to clear his name in the pages of Justice Society of America and Villains United.  He became the dictator of his fictional homeland, Kahndaq, who would do anything to protect his people.

 

No official word on the casting or release date from Warner Brothers.
