Peter Capaldi took over as Doctor Who last night.
Deep Breath was the first full episode with Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor with Jenna Coleman staying on as companion Clara Oswald.
The season 8 premiere episode is a chilling mystery in old London (with Madama Vastra, Jenny and Strax assisting) but even more about the transition as Clara struggles to accept the new Doctor, something some devoted Matt Smith fans are having to do.
The Twelfth Doctor already has a new comic book series on the way from Titan Comics. The plot is top secret
but maybe will tie-in to the big mystery from the television series: Who is Missy, the Gatekeeper of the Nethersphere? Is Capaldi’s Twelfth a darker, morally ambigious Time Lord? Who keeps trying to make sure the new Doctor and Clara stay together? And all those robots?

You can order Deep Breath on Blu-ray. New fans may want to revisit The Girl In the Fireplace from David Tennant’s Season Two. The episode written by current Show Runner Steven Moffat has ties to the new season’s big mystery.
