S.H.I.E.L.D. hired the Merc With a Mouth to take on Dead Presidents when Wade Wilson’s Marvel Now book debuted.
Mission accomplished but no payment. Now it’s payback time as Wade goes after the world’s biggest law enforcement team for his due as the series comes to a finale.
Marvel shared this look at the finale issues of this volume and co-writer Gerry Duggan’s take on Deadpool vs. S.H.I.E.L.D.
“Well, he’s taking on certain elements in S.H.I.E.L.D., not necessarily the entire organization. In fact, he’ll have some help. I always loved Lee Marvin in the Parker adaptation “Point Blank.” He just wanted the money that was due him. Not a penny more than the sum that was rightly his. But he didn’t get it, and now you can’t buy safety for all the money in the world. Pro-tip: Betta have Deadpool’s money.”
The war with SHIELD will include fan-favorite Phil Coulson.
“For Phil, the risks are to the job, the organization, and not personal. Still, he lives, breathes and bleeds S.H.I.E.L.D., so the stakes will be plenty high for him. With “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly,” you saw Captain America and Wolverine look at Deadpool in a new light. After the events of DEADPOOL #23, Phil will be reexamining not just his own feelings on Wade, but maybe he’s going to have to update some of S.H.I.E.L.D. files on Deadpool too.”
Deadpool #21 by Duggan, Brian Posehn and returning artist Mike Hawthorne kick off the final arc leading to the finale in issue #25Now as Wade continues in the All-New Marvel Now. Enjoy more inventive Mark Brooks covers below:
