A mystery villain.
A hero abducted.

The latest twist in the Rebirth mystery came with a jolt in the finale of Rise of the Batmen in Detective Comics.
The long running title now by James Tynion IV was reborn with Rebirth as a team book with Bruce Wayne recruiting Batwoman to help set up “Batman Boot Camp” for Gotham City’s young vigilantes Tim Drake, Cassandra Cain, Stephanie Brown and a new purpose for Clayface.
The team save the city from a conspiracy to unleash an army of Batmen but lost one of their own in the final battle…or did they?
Before we dive into two big Rebirth mysteries here’s a SPOILER ALERT!
If you have not read Detective Comics #940 stop reading now.
Seriously.
OK.
Here it comes.
Tim Drake is dead. Or at least that what’s Batman and the Bat-family believe.
Drake appeared to die in an onslaught of missiles but he was “saved” by Mr. Oz – a mystery man haunting the DC Universe.
Why Drake?
Who is Mr. Oz? He was introduced in The New 52 Superman run by Geoff Johns. Since Oz’s return in DC Universe: Rebirth #1 by Johns he has collected Doomsday, Ray Palmer and taken Tim Drake “off the playing field” as seen in the first arc of Detective Comics. Is this mystery man Ozymandias, someone else connected to the Watchmen universe or someone unrelated?
Why Tim Drake?
Batman, Batwoman, Spoiler and Cassandra Cain think Red Robin died saving Gotham City in Detective Comics #940. The shock of Drake’s sacrifice shocked fans. Before we could recover we learned Drake was a prisoner.
“You were reconnecting threads that could not be reconnected. You’re so loved, so deeply intertwined, it became crucual that we took you off the field. And that’s where you are, Time. Off the field.”
What threads are Drake connected and why is he so important to the master plan of Mr. Oz? How long will be be off the grid? Who’s next to join him?
