After taking She-Hulk to court in an acclaimed series, killing an X-Man (Death of Wolverine) and launching a major new franchise (Inhumans) Charles Soule is dealing with the devil.

Marvel announced Soule and artist Ron Garney as the new creative team on Daredevil when The Man Without Fear relaunches as part of the All-New, All-Different Marvel Now this fall after Secret Wars.

There will be some things that are familiar. Matt Murdock is moving back to New York City and back to being an attorney after losing his license and moving to San Francisco in the previous volume.

Soule confirmed Murdock has his secret identity back. No one knows Murdock is Daredevil and Matt has a new job.

“When we open, though, he’s practicing law again; he’s working as a prosecutor in the Manhattan DA’s office,” he reveals. “His job is to work for the city to try accused criminals and put them away. That’s different than his previous work as a lawyer; we’ve almost always seen him as a defense attorney, defending clients and trying to keep them out of jail.” Soule told Marvel.com.

“For me, as an attorney, it literally seemed impossible that a lawyer who is also a costumed vigilante could be an effective advocate for his clients. I think Matt’s come to the same realization, but working as a DA allows a different sort of rationalization. Both his ‘jobs’ are now aligned, and the inherent conflict can fade away. Or so he hopes. Daredevil’s life is very complicated, and I think he rationalizes all sorts of things.”

Soule reveals the big mystery ever since the cover hit: Daredevil’s sidekick is…

“This new character is a Chinese man named Samuel Chung, who came to the United States with his family early in his life; he’s technically an ‘undocumented immigrant,’ but he’s lived in New York City since he was quite young. So, he thinks of himself as American, even though he doesn’t have access to citizenship or many of the things that go along with it. I’ve worked in immigration law for a long time, and I know a bunch of people in that situation; I thought it would be a fascinating point of view for a costumed vigilante.”
Soule will throw two new villains as Daredevil when the series hits. The first villain is named Tenfingers.
