Damian Wayne LIVES again…in a possible future.
Artist Andy Kubert returns to the world he co-created with Grant Morrison in Batman #666 in which an adult Damian is the Dark Knight of an apocalyptic Gotham City.
Bruce’s son was killed as a casualty of war between the Dark Knight and Damian’s mother, Talia Al Ghul. It was part of Morrison’s endgame since taking over Batman.
Kubert writes the new 4-part series Damian: Son of Batman kicking off Wednesday. Here are images from issue one courtesy DC Comics and Kubert discusses the one critical difference between father and son.
“The major difference is that Damian kills or has killed and Bruce does not. Damian is a hot head. Bruce is cool and calm. Damian is short. Bruce is — oh, forget it,” Kubert told Comic Book Resources. “I think their major similarity is that they both have a deep respect for what they believe is right and what is wrong. They both probably have different thoughts as to what is right and wrong, but they are deep into their beliefs of that. If Damian thinks someone should be killed, then he deeply thinks that someone, justifiably, should not be walking the Earth anymore.”
Damian: Son of Batman #1 arrives Wednesday. As you can see above it looks like Talia is alive (or is this a dream sequence) and the immortal Ra’s Al Ghul is around in this possible future.
Damian – you are missed by this fan.
