Ahead of the upcoming Captain America: Civil War Empire issue, Marvel revealed a first look at villain Crossbones, the identity of Martin Freeman’s character and more photos from the super sequel.
Hydra operative Brock Rumlow (Frank Grillo) survives the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier to reemerge armored up as his comic book counterpart, the mercenary/assassin known as Crossbones.
Freeman (seen with Emily Van Camp returning as Sharon Carter) is revealed to be Everett Ross, a U.S. State Department official. In the comics Ross was assigned to escort foreign diplomats to America including the leader of Wakana, T’Challa aka Black Panther.
Elizabeth Olsen reprises her role as Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch, who will side with Captain America in the conflict.
The film centers on the rift between Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) who disagree when the government cracks down on superheroes via the Sokovia Accords.
Captain America: Civil War arrives May 6th.
