The cosmic conspiracy centered on the return of Wally West, powerful beings who manipulated the DC Multiverse, have kidnapped and killed heroes and villains…and the button.

A bloody smiley face button found in the Batcave. Batman and The Flash attempted to discover the truth in The Button crossover. The Flash #22 is final chapter of The Button (arriving this Wednesday) with a four-page epilogue confirming the mystery continues in DOOMSDAY CLOCK.

“It’s time. Last year, the DC Universe confronted the legacy of Watchmen in Rebirth the way Watchmen confronted the legacy of superhero comics three decades ago,” explains writer Geoff Johns. “Thematically, and metaphorically, there was no better choice than to use Dr. Manhattan. If you’re going to have a conflict between optimism and pessimism, a battle between the very forces of hope and despair, you need to have someone who personifies the cynicism that has leaked into our hearts and also has the ability to affect the entire DCU. It’s all paying off this November with DOOMSDAY CLOCK.”

DOOMSDAY CLOCK is a story for fans who love the DC Universe and Watchmen and want to see what a master of this genre creates when he puts them together,” says Frank. “As for my artistic approach to the series, each panel is extremely detailed and I am constantly thinking through the position of every single element.”

If you have read Watchmen, you recognize the Doomsday Clock. In this alternate world where Richard Nixon was a fourth term President, scientists kept moving the Doomsday Clock to midnight – as the United States and the Soviet Union edged closer and closer to nuclear war.

What’s the meaning behind the Superman logo on the teaser? The Man of Steel has been taunted and manipulated by a mystery villain called Mr. Oz. Is this Ozymandias, the world’s most smartest man and hero turned villain of Watchmen? Fans have seen villains killed with a certain power signature – that of Dr. Manhattan, the nuclear “Super Man” of Watchmen. Could this teaser hint at a showdown between Superman and Dr. Manhattan – the most powerful men of each reality?
