Jada Pinkett Smith strikes like a tiger shark on Gotham as Fish Mooney. Could the mobster muscle her way into Batman comics?

Gotham reveals the origin stories of the Dark Knight’s greatest allies (Jim Gordon, Harvey Bullock, Renee Montoya, Sarah Essen) and enemies. The future Penguin, Riddler, Poison Ivy and Catwoman have been seen so far.

Producers created Fish Mooney just for the series. Jada Pinkett Smith brings the the sexy, ruthless and vicious mob boss to evil life. Fish runs the theater district under Carmine Falcone and made Oswald Cobblepot her slave until she had him “retired.” Smith and Robin Lord Taylor fittingly “stole the show” as the criminal mistress and misfit in the premiere episode.

Catwoman is still just a 13 year old thief named Selina Kyle or “Cat” as she tells Jim Gordon to call her. Fish gives Gotham a tough, ruthless femme fatale while Selina is growing up. Perhaps producers might have Fish take “Cat” under her tutelage – if the mobster survives the Penguin’s revenge!

If Fish Mooney continues to be a breakout character on television could she bust into the comics?

Let’s not forget Harley Quinn was created on Batman: The Animated Series by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm.  The fan-favorite leaped into the Dark Knight’s comic book continuity. Harley is now a cosplay classic at any con and has moved way beyond being the Joker’s crazy girlfriend. Harley now stars in her own solo book and in Suicide Squad.

Dr. Harleen Quinzel paved the way for characters in other mediums to become part of the comic book mythos that inspired the cartoon. X-23 first popped her claws in the X-Men: Evolution animated series before becoming a star of solo books, X-Men, X-Force and Avengers Academy.

DC Comics gave its comic universe a modern day reboot with The New 52 revamp. Watch out Falcones, Moronis and Gotham City Police – Fish Mooney might be vamping her way up the Gotham City underworld if Gotham continues its winning streak.
