CONCRETE MARTIANS Kickstarter Invasion!

CM-cover-redux_webMARS INVADES EARTH!?

A Pacific Northwest legend inspires comic book creators!

October 30th 1938, Orson Wells produces a radio show of the H.G. Wells classic The War of the Worlds.

Concrete, Washington becomes the epicenter of Martian Invasion Hysteria when, at just the point when the Martians in the radio play attack, the power goes out.

Concrete Martians is a graphic novel of small town nightmares inspired by true events. The story based on the events of that day in Concrete based on anecdotal evidence gathered from various interviews from the people who experienced that night.

“I have tried to recreate these events in a fictional narrative. While the events are mostly true and slightly embellished for story as well as lack of competing evidence to the contrary, it is my belief that this is a fairly accurate account and is a fun and harmless retelling of a night that many in Concrete, Washington, as well as many other towns and cities across the country, would like to forget,” says writer Mitch Cook.

Cook and artist Keith Grachnow hope to complete the project in time for the 75th Anniversary of the now famous War of the Worlds broadcast. A Kickstarter  Campaign is now running until July 31st, 2013. The creators are trying to raise enough funds to produce and publish the graphic novel and present it at the Emerald City Comicon March 2014.
