One of Joss Whedon’s best kept secrets is declassified!

Cobie Smulders will reprise her role as Maria Hill in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Hill is Nick Fury’s second in command in Marvel’s The Avengers on the big screen.

“I wanted very much to have Cobie in the pilot because as much as anyone else, she IS SHIELD,” pilot’s writer-director Joss Whedon tells EW.Com.

“She’s cool and commanding, and has the dry humor that plays so well with Clark’s. Also, if she’s in it I get to hang out with Cobie.”

Smulders appears in the pilot and occasionally appear in future episodes. The actress is still starring in How I Met Your Mother. It’s the final season for the CBS comedy so it’s possible Smulders could become a full-time cast member in season two.
