Brian Michael Bendis, David Marquez and Justin Ponsor deliver a series of knockout punches and what might be the most shocking vision from Ulysses yet.

In case you’re just joining us…A new Inhuman named Ulysses has the power to see the future. Captain Marvel wants to use this “predictive justice” to save lives. Iron Man is opposed, kidnapped Ulysses to map his mind and prove that the visions are just algorithms and not the exact future. Both heroes are mourning the death of James Rhodes (War Machine) after he was killed by Thanos in an operation based on a vision.

The cover for issue #6 shows Miles Morales/Spider-Man about to bring down a fallen Steve Rogers/Captain America’s shield on him.

We may know what leads to the deadly confrontation on this ominous cover.

Before we continue with what this week’s huge chapter could mean for the aftermath of this war here’s a SPOILER ALERT!

If you have not read Civil War II #5 stop reading now.

Seriously.

OK.

Here it comes.

The previous issue ended with two armies of heroes about to go into battle on top of the Triskelion over a suspect held without any evidence other than the Inhuman’s vision.

Tony had Doctor Strange, both Captain Americas, Luke Cage, the All-New X-Men, Nova, Ms. Marvel, Thor, Vision and Spider-Man among his forces. Carol was backed by her Ultimates and Alpha Flight, Extraordinary X-Men members and the Guardians of the Galaxy as her last minute cavalry.

As the battle escalated, Medusa led the Inhumans into the fight while Ulysses began to exhibit a new twist on his power:

Threads of white energy like webs emerge from his fingers and wrap around Tony and Carol. The heroes appear to be transported into the future. As the heroes get their bearings after the strange trip, they are in a dark, smoky battleground with ash clouds in the air and they look to see Miles Morales holding a dead Steve Rogers in Washington, D.C. Rogers is stabbed. Spider-Man’s fist is bloody. The shield is broken. The U.S. Capitol Building is in ruins. Everyone is in shock – especially us.

Captain Marvel appears cool and in control and declares that Miles is under arrest.

Is Ulysses showing them a vision?

Has the young Inhuman actually flash forwarded them physically to the near future?

What would make Miles commit his horrific act? Does Spider-Man learn the truth about Rogers being a Hydra sleeper?

Why is Carol not more emotional about the possible death of Steve unless she too learns he’s a traitor?

Will Ulysses survive?

Tony Stark determined the visions are concrete but just probabilities based on all data and poured in and out of Ulysses. The fact that Steve Rogers isn’t really our beloved Steve Rogers but a Hydra traitor (as reality warped by Kobik, the Cosmic Cube Kid) throwing off the data and thus making all of Ulysses’s visions corrupt?

Civil War II #6 arrives October 5th.
