The first big event of the All-New, All-Different Marvel Now and a new characters with a classic code-name will headline Free Comic Book Day.
Marvel announced FCBD Civil War II, a first look at the war between heroes led by Iron Man and Captain Marvel by Brian Michael Bendis and Jim Cheung.
The big issue features the All-New Wasp by All-New, All-Different Avengers writer Mark Waid and legendary artist Alan Davis. The announcement says this is a new character who will have an impact on Waid’s Avengers team/book.
No one on who this All-New Wasp is or if the character will be a hero or villain. Original Wasp Janet Van Dyne is guest starring in All-New Wolverine as a mentor to Laura as she recently discovered she has clone sisters.
Will comics imitate cinema?
In the Ant-Man movie, Janet shrunk into the Quantum Realm and her daughter Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) will assume (we assume) the role in the sequel Ant-Man and The Wasp.
Part of the excitement of an All-New Wasp is the design by Davis. Janet is one of the most fashion forward costumed heroes with a long history of multiple uniforms throughout the years.
This will be one of four FCBD issues from Marvel on Free Comic Book Day which is Saturday, May 7 at participating comic book stores.
