Have the stars aligned for Marvel in the search for Star-Lord? Chris Pratt (Zero Dark Thirty, Moneyball, Parks and Recreation) is in talks to play Peter Quill (aka Star-Lord) in the James Gunn directed Guardians of the Galaxy according to The Hollywood Reporter Heat Vision.
Quill is a human (with an alien father in the comic books) who ends up in space leading a ragtag team of rogues from various alien races including Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Gamora and Drax the Destroyer (this character was designed to kill Thanos, the villian seen at the end of The Avengers.)
A brand new Guardians of the Galaxy comic book by superstars Brian Michael Bendis and Steve McNiven is about to launch. The film is scheduled for August 1, 2014.
