Chris Hemsworth will boldly return to the Star Trek film franchise.
Paramount announced Hemsworth will reprise his role as George Kirk in a fourth Star Trek film. Fans are awaiting the launch of Star Trek Beyond (new trailer below) this Friday. The fourth film will see Captain James Kirk (Chris Pine) unite with his late father, George, who died in 2009’s Star Trek reboot by director J.J. Abrams.
The film marked a change in Trek continuity and led to Hemsworth’s casting as Thor.
According to the announcement the next sequel will see Kirk “cross paths with a man he never had a chance to meet, but whose legacy has haunted him since the day he was born: his father.”
Paramount shared a final trailer for Star Trek Beyond stars Idris Elba, Chris Pine, Simon Pegg, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, Anton Yelchin and Karl Urban.
Star Trek Beyond opens Friday.
No word on a director or cast changes for the fourth film from Paramount, Bad Robot and Skydance Productions.
