The Gambit movie may be falling like a house of cards but can it recharge?

The deal between Channing Tatum and 20th Century Fox is in jeopardy and the star may exit the X-Men spinoff according to The Wrap.

This comes shortly after Tatum joined the casts of Fox’s X-Men: Apocalypse, Fantastic Four, Wolverine and Deadpool on stage at San Diego Comic-Con.

Director Rupert Wyatt and the studio are reportedly testing actresses to play the female lead including Lea Seydoux (soon to be seen in Spectre).

No word on if Tatum and producing partner Reid Carolin will stay on as producers.  Longtime X-Men film producers Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler-Donner are producing.

Gambit/Remy LeBeau is a thief/gambler with the power to charge kinetic energy in any object. His favorite weapon is to turn a deck of playing cards into a wave of bombs. Remy was raised in New Orleans among the “Thieves Guild” who were in constant war with the “Assassins Guild” but tried to leave the life behind and joined the X-Men.

Taylor Kitsch played the character in X-Men: Origins: Wolverine.

Gambit is schedule for October 7, 2016.
