Channing Tatum and Fox set the date for Gambit.

Channing Tatum will star as the X-Man in a solo movie for Fox slated for October 7, 2016 according to Variety.

Gambit opens just a few months after X-Men: Apocalypse (May 27, 2016) as the eight film in the the X-Men franchise.  Joshua Zetumer wrote the screenplay. No word on a director yet.

Remy LeBeau was co-created by Chris Claremont. The mutant with the power to charge up kinetic energy in any object is a ladies man, gambler, thief. Gambit became a fan-favorite X-Man.

LeBeau is known for his Cajun accent and was raised by the Thieves Guild in New Orleans. Remy and Rogue shared a tortured on-again, off-again romance in comics.

Taylor Kitsch played Remy in the spinoff: X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Given the continuity changing events of X-Men: Days of Future Past – Remy’s origins could change for the upcoming solo spinoff.
