Channing Tatum will play Gambit.
X-Fans – I think we have a confirmation.
Tatum has stated Gambit is his favorite X-Man and how much he’d like to play him.
After several rounds of teasing and much like the charming mutant thief would do…the story seems to be confirmed.
While at the London premiere of X-Men: Days of Future Past, Producer Lauren Schuler Donner practically confirmed Tatum will play Gambit in an upcoming film when asked by Total Film.
“He’s a rogue…Channing…he’s a rebel just like Remy LeBeau. And he handle the action we all know that….and he’s got a really good heart.”
“He’s not from New Orleans but he is a Southerner so he understands that world and you know Gambit loves New Orleans.”
No word on if Gambit will appear in a solo film or X-Men: Apocalypse although director Bryan Singer has said he’d like to have Remy in a future film.
Remy is a member of the Thieves Guild of New Orleans who joined the X-Men after meeting Storm. Gambit would have an on-again, off-again romance with Rogue and on-again, off-again membership on the team. Gambit is currently a member of the corporate backed team X-Factor by Peter David.
X-Men: Days of Future Past opens May 23.
