One of the most infamous femme fatales in pop culture is becoming a blushing bride? This week Catwoman chose her dress as she plans her wedding to Bruce Wayne in the pages of BATMAN.
It wasn’t white. Don’t expect the typically honeymoon for Selina Kyle either!
The wedding gown revelation was followed by be the biggest C2E2 (Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo) announcement from DC this past weekend: After Catwoman marries Batman – she’s going solo.
DC Comics revealed a new ongoing CATWOMAN comic book series written and drawn by Eisner Award-nominee Joëlle Jones with covers by Laura Allred. Jones joined BATMAN writer Tom King for several arcs after Bruce’s proposal to Selina or as they call each other Bat and Cat. Jones is the artist who designed Selina’s gown. The new solo book picks up after the event of the wedding issue BATMAN #50. It’s first ongoing book for Catwoman in two years.
Here’s the official description of the debut issue:
“The wedding night’s barely over, but Catwoman’s back on the streets, this time to expose a copycat who’s pulling heists around Gotham City. As Selina cracks the whip on her former criminal cohorts, she’s attracting unwanted attention from one of Gotham’s most dangerous groups. The mob? Nope. Try the GCPD. And as if the Bat-Bride didn’t have enough problems, there’s an all-new villain determined to make trouble for all nine of Selina’s lives. Don’t miss the start of an all-new monthly series written and illustrated by Eisner Award-nominee Joëlle Jones.”
Selina just picked out her wedding dress in this week’s BATMAN #44. After sporting different looks from long purple dressed to skin tight black leather suits – Selina chose a black and white gown. Does the wedding dress symbolize the dark and lighter sides of the villainess turned anti-heroine and longtime enemy turned lover of the Dark Knight?
Will Bruce and Selina really make it down the aisle? We’ll find out in BATMAN #50 then Selina goes solo as CATWOMAN #1 arrives July 4th.
