Skyfall is moving into the final weeks of production. Empire Online shares photos from their upcoming issue featuring a set visit to the set of the next James Bond film.
Daniel Craig is in dangerous and debonair form.
“Visually we’re in very safe hands because Roger Deakins is shooting this movie, which is just phenomenal,” said Daniel Craig tole Empire. “It has a classic feel to it. I won’t lie to you: we’ve tried to sort of bring some of the feelings of older Bond movies into this film — but this is a modern movie.”
This Geek’s Opinion: I was thrilled when Naomie Harris joined the cast as an MI6 agent named Eve. I’ve been a big fan of her work since 28 Days Later.
This is the first time we’ve seen Oscar Winner Ralph Fiennes from the film. He’s taking aim. Fans speculate Fiennes is playing a rogue MI6 agent or an even more elaborate theory is that he will take over for Dame Judi Dench as M.

The chilling TED viral video starring Guy Pearce as Peter Weyland burned up the internet revealing the connection between Alien and Prometheus. The video was not just brilliant viral marketing, you’ll see it on the big screen.
“You’ve seen everything you’re going to see out of [the TED Talk], but there were some sections of the speech that were trimmed out, just for economics,” Pearce told MTV News about shooting the viral video. “But there are other viral videos that are going to come out that involve the other characters from the film, with Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender. Mine was just the entrée to bigger and better things.”
Pearce talked about feeling the pressure while playing the character that connects the films.
“To a certain extent I’m feeling it more and more now! Every time I do an interview, and someone goes, ‘Sooo… Peter Weyland!’ And I go, ‘Oh god!'” he laughed. “Yeah, there’s a bit of pressure. But look, you’re standing there in front of Ridley, and you’re offering up whatever you can offer up. If it’s not right, Ridley would say. So I just have to trust Mr. Scott there.”

The Night of the Owls is set to begin this month as the Court of Owls unleash an army of Talons on Batman, his allies and Gotham City. DC Comics is already teasing the final chapter with the July solicits for the the Batman family of titles.
This is cover of Batman #11 which DC calls the “stunning conclusion to the Court of Owls epic.”
Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo have created a modern classic. It’s unlike any Batman story I’ve ever experienced. Issue #5 alone was a breakthrough in comic book storytelling. I can’t wait for this crossover.
Meeting Capullo at Emerald City Comicon recently was one of my top highlights. I got to ask him about the process of creating looks for so many Talons from different eras. Every Capullo cover is a haunting pop art masterpiece and this latest cover is a perfect addition to his gallery.
Katniss Everdeen is the amazing heroine of the epic and emotional The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins and the smash hit movie. If you like Katniss I think you will enjoy the adventures of Marvel’s Kate Bishop of the Young Avengers. Katniss and Kate’s backgrounds are very different but they young heroines share a lot of similarities besides their archery skills.
Kate is tough, independent, blunt and an excellent archer. Kate was born rich but dedicated herself to charity like her late mother. The Young Avengers were an all boys team until a rescue attempt lead them to meet the level-headed and tough under pressure rich girl. Donning parts of the costumes once worn by Hawkeye and Mockingbird, Kate became part of the team of found a secret place for the team to train.
In Young Avengers Special Kate confides a dark painful secret to reporter Jessica Jones. We learn Kate was brutally attacked in what appears to be Central Park. Kate was traumatized and inspired undergo intense martial arts and weapons training like fencing, archery, and swordsmanship.
I don’t want to give too much away but Kate’s best friend becomes Cassie Lang, the daughter of Ant-Man who goes by the code name Stature. Kate’s testy and sexy relationship with Eli Walker aka Patriot is part of the ongoing appeal of the series. The two teens are stubborn, independent and it’s a joy to watch their “will they or won’t they” relationship evolve.
Kate wasn’t born with super powers but holds her own as the team confronts villains, gets caught up in Marvel’s biggest epics. She takes on the code name Hawkeye, stands up to Captain America when he orders the team to shut down and eventually meets the real Hawkeye (Clint Barton, played by Jeremy Renner in Marvel’s The Avengers.)
Allan Heinberg (a writer on Sex & the City, Grey’s Anatomy, Gilmore Girls, Party of Five, The O.C.) and artist Jim Cheung created Kate and the Young Avengers. I’m a huge fan of the Young Avengers. The Children’s Crusade is one of the most beautifully drawn and written stories in modern Marvel history. Here’s the Marvel.com link to learn more about Kate’s team, The Young Avengers.
Here are Amazon links to the big Young Avengers story collections. Hope you enjoy!
I have a big update on the author of Concrete Martians. Mitch Cook was inspired by true events to create his comic book based on true events: when the folks of Concrete, Washington thought they were being invaded.
At Emerald City Comicon Mitch got to pitch his story to an editor and he was featured on KOMO NEWS Radio. Mitch was interviewed by Charlie Harger and Jane Shannon. You can learn more about Mitch’s inspiration, creation and the moment every hopeful unpublished writer wants!
Two big studios. Two big franchises. One hot star. There appears to be a compromise that keeps fans of the X-Men and The Hunger Games happy!
The X-Men First Class sequel will start shooting in January. That means Lionsgate can shoot Catching Fire in August/September without a conflict for Jennifer Lawrence according to The Hollywood Reporter Heat Vision. The in-demand actress plays Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire, and Raven/Mystique in X-Men: First Class.
The next step for Catching Fire is lining up a director. The Hunger Games director and co-writer Gary Ross does not have a deal for the sequel.
